Isaac Asimov's seminal sci-fi novels finally make their way to screens
The long-awaited adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s Foundation premieres on Apple TV+ 24th September.
After many attempts to bring Foundation to the screen, David S. Goyer has wrangled Asimov’s multiple plotlines spanning multiple centuries into what the BBC are calling ‘a true TV event’.
The series follows Dr Hari Seldon (Jared Harris), a mathematician and psychologist, who spends his career developing a psychohistory theory that can predict the future of humankind.
When Seldon prophesises the fall of the Galactic Empire, and with it, the fall of society, he and a team of scientists and engineers must fight to limit the chaos that follows, preserving science and knowledge for future generations.
The story takes place across the galaxy so prepare for visually breath-taking environments acting as the backdrop to storylines that, while set far into the future, may feel slightly closer to home.
Tom Barber, VFX Producer for Foundation said: “We’re very excited to see the public’s reaction to Foundation, the largest project we’ve delivered from our Montreal studio so far! Both the complexity and scale of the work pushed the boundaries for Outpost and shows what our talented crew are able to achieve.”
VFX Supervisor, Illia Afanasiev adds: “It was an honour to work on Foundation. I'm extremely proud of the work we did at Outpost. From expansive environments to epic space shots and gruesome character work, it was a fun ride.”
Outpost were awarded a little over 250 shots which were delivered across all studios. We’ll share more details as soon as we can, so be sure to check back soon.
The first two episodes of Foundation can be viewed on Apple TV+ 24th September, after which fans will have to wait for a weekly instalment on the platform.
